Chemical Peels

Description

Less invasive than an injectable, yet more dramatic than a facial, chemical peels are perfect for 'newbies' to anti-ageing procedures or as a top-up treatment between Botox or Dermal Filler appointments. If used early enough, chemical peels can prevent the formation of fine lines, as they work by removing the entire top layer of skin, banishing dead skin cells and encouraging the growth of new ones in their place. Treatments tend to take between 5-30 minutes, depending on the severity of the peel. At NewLife, chemical peels come with a choice of three strengths, and the amount of downtime required varies accordingly. A mild peel should settle within a few hours, whereas the strongest may induce several weeks of flaking and redness. Patients choose their peel based on a number of factors within their consultation, including how much time they have until their next big event and the result needed.

Who is the ideal candidate? Chemical peels are enjoyed by a huge range of patients, ranging from those in their early-twenties to people in their late-seventies. If you have over-exposed your skin to the sun whilst on holiday (or during one of Britain's rare heat-waves) then peels can help to reverse the damage before it sets in. Like microneedling, chemical peels can also help those who suffer from uneven skin tone or pigmentation. Ideally, they should be a regular, routine part of your skincare regime.

Why choose this treatment? Chemical peels are one of our more inexpensive anti-ageing treatments and deliver maximum results with very little investment of time, risk or money.
After a chemical peel, avoid alcohol, tobacco, harsh exfoliants and sun exposure for at least 48 hours, and use an SPF wherever possible after that. To maintain the effects, chemical peels should be undertaken once every 6-12 months.
